The Asset Manager

The best way to describe the role of an independent asset manager is to think in terms of a triangular relationship, i.e. client, bank, asset manager. You, as the client, maintain an account at a bank of your choice while you entrust a mandate to manage your portfolio to ourselves as your asset manager. This mandate is regulated by a contract in which you determine with our assistance your objectives in terms of investments/strategies/risk profile and then authorize us to invest your assets within the parameters so determined.

The authority you grant to us is strictly limited to managing your assets; however, it does not embody any authority for us to transfer and/or withdraw any funds. Since we are no brokers, you do not have to worry about commissions on buying and selling or on transactions.

Banks & Brokers:

Pressure to sell own products and meet targets.
Investment banking conflicts.
Depend on commissions.

Fund Managers:

Pressure to sell own products.
Salesmanship more important than stewardship.
